The Life of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ): A Dynamic Approach The biographies of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) fill the Islamic library. But what is the value of repeating these works if we do not derive fresh insights or actionable guidance from them? Sayyid Qutb, may Allah have mercy on him, offered us a groundbreaking perspective in his book "Ma'alim fi al-Tariq" (Milestones), where he wrote: "The second characteristic of the methodology of this religion is dynamic realism... It is a movement with stages, each stage having its corresponding means and realistic requirements, and each stage hands over to the next stage. It does not face reality with mere theories, nor does it meet the stages of reality with frozen methods.” The life of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) exemplifies this dynamic realism: - How did he recruit and train the early Muslims? - How did he establish the first secret base? - What were the defining qualities of the new recruits? - Through which stages of strategic planning and implementation did the early Islamic movement progress? As we study the dynamic stages of the life of the best of creation, let us ask ourselves: What is the practical benefit of this knowledge in our lives today?
